Single-academy, multi-academy and newly forming trusts in England can apply for a share of £24 million in funding to develop their capacity to grow. It has a particular focus on supporting strong trusts, and strong schools forming trusts, to take on underperforming schools in areas of higher need.
Funding from the Department for Education’s Trust Capacity Fund will be available in two strands:
- Strand A will award grants of between £50,000 and £310,000 to trusts which take on at least one additional inadequate or requires improvement school;
- Strand B will award grants of between £50,000 and £100,000 for all other trust capacity building projects.
Applications that involve taking on underperforming schools in areas of higher need are encouraged.
