The Home Office has launched a new funding round through the Safer Street Fund. A total of £20 million is available to police and crime commissioners (PCCs) and local authorities across England and Wales to fund crime prevention plans in neighbourhoods affected by high levels of neighbourhood crime, such as burglary and robbery.
The fund aims to:
- reduce neighbourhood crime in areas that receive funding, making residents safer and reducing demand on the police
- build evidence to strengthen the case for future investment in targeted crime prevention
- grow local capability to undertake data driven problem solving approaches to crime prevention
Successful areas will receive grants of up to £432,000.
The deadline for bids is midnight on 25 March 2021. Bidders will be informed whether they are successful by the end of May 2021.
