The Frederick Soddy Schools Award is funded by the Frederick Soddy Trust through the Royal Geographic Society. Recognising that schools often find it difficult to compete successfully for funds from the main grant-giving bodies or to allocate their own resources to field studies, the Awards aim to encourage field studies by providing financial support specifically for this work.
Applications are welcomed from teachers at UK and Ireland secondary schools planning expeditions and fieldwork, with preference going to projects that:
- Involve a strong element of human geography;
- Take place within the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Awards of £200 to £600 are given, depending on the merit of each project. Awards are not given for resources.
The next deadline to apply is the 18th January 2019.
