The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) have launched the Community University Partnership Initiative (CUPI). Funded by Power to Change and the Arts and Humanities Research Council, CUPI supports community organisations (including community businesses, charities, social enterprises, and voluntary organisations) and university researchers to create trusting and useful research collaborations which benefit all the partners involved and will be of benefit to their community.
This may take many forms such as providing services, running local facilities, connecting people, encouraging and supporting participation in public life, and much more.
Events are held regionally – to encourage local partnership development. At each event, small grants of £500 to £1000 (£7000 in total at each event) are available for ‘thinking time’ where teams of community partners and academics can work together and put together follow up funding bids. Teams can then bid for up to £5,000 to either develop or deliver their project.
The next events are: Bristol, Thursday 22nd March – apply by 22nd February and Manchester, Tuesday 17th April – apply by 20th March 2018.
