A new £500,000 fund has been announced to support the redistribution of quality surplus food to people in need throughout England.
The Food Waste Reduction Fund will be administered by sustainability experts WRAP and will be open to organisations that redistribute food as well as charities who receive and share food with people in need. The fund aims to help organisations to overcome barriers to the redistribution of food such as:
- Training and education
- Infrastructure support – for equipment such as new vehicles to transport more types of food
- Forming collaborative partnerships
- Communication, logistics and technology.
Further details about how to apply will be available on the WRAP website in 2018, when the fund opens for applications.
