Funding to Protect Cultural Heritage in Conflict Affected Countries – 31st January 2018 (UK)

The British Council has announced that the Cultural Protection Fund Small and Large Grants Programme are open for applications.

The aim of the fund is to protect and preserve physical monuments and religious sites, as well as ‘intangible’ heritage: inherited traditions, beliefs and cultural identity; especially in areas affected by conflict.

Organisations in the UK and internationally must be working with; or be in the process of developing partnerships with local partner organisations in one or more of the Fund’s current target countries within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. These are:

  • Afghanistan
  • Egypt
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Libya
  • Iraq
  • Occupied Palestinian Territories
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • Tunisia
  • Turkey
  • Yemen.

Through the large grants scheme, grants of over £100,000 are available. For the large grants programme, the deadline for submitting an expression of interest is the 3rd November 2017. Organisations successful at this stage will then have until the 31st January 2018 to submit a full application.

The deadline for submitting an expression of interest to the Small Grants Programme is the 19th January 2018. Organisations successful at this stage will then have until the 31st January 2018 to submit a full application.
