New Fund Launched to Engage Disadvantaged Young People in Science – 22nd September 2017 (UK)

BBC Children in Need in partnership with the Welcome Trust have launched a new £2.5 million Curiosity Fund to use the power of exciting and engaging science activities to create change for children and young people experiencing disadvantage in the UK. BBC Children in Need and the Welcome Trust are inviting applications for grants of up to £10,000 to fund projects that engage children and young people in science based activities. The Fund is not about formal education. Projects should encourage young people:

  • To be curious about the world around them and inside them, making a positive difference in their lives
  • Building confidence and self-esteem, developing life skills and expanding horizons.

The Fund is open to applications from not-for-profit organisations with a track record of working with disadvantaged children and young people up to 18 years old and living in the UK. School and want to apply should do so in partnership with a local community based organisation.

The closing date for applications is midnight on the 22nd September 2017.
