Final Deadline for Neighbourhood Planning Grants Announced – 31st January 2018 (England)

The Department for Communities and Local Government has announced that the final deadline for applications under the Neighbourhood Planning programme is the 31st January 2018.

Town and Parish Councils as well as Neighbourhood Forums can apply for grants of up to £9,000 as well as technical support for the development of Neighbourhood Plans. Neighbourhood planning is a right for communities introduced through the Localism Act 2011 and enables communities to influence future developments in their area. This could include new housing projects, shops and where offices are built.

Examples of what the grants can be used for include:

  • Developing a website
  • Training sessions for members of the steering group
  • Help with putting together a project plan
  • Undertaking a household survey
  • Help with developing the evidence base; etc.

All monies awarded must be spent by the 31st March 2018. The Department for Communities and Local Government are expecting to continue the Neighbourhood Planning programme past March 2018. Confirmation of the details of the new programme of support will be revealed in due course.
