The Government and the Big Lottery Fund has announced a total of £80 million to boost England’s youth sector, the funding is aimed at helping to give young people the best start in life so that they can go as far as their talents will take them. Local voluntary youth groups will be able to bid for a share of the funding to open up opportunities for young people to get involved in their communities, create new experiences, support their personal development and help them to succeed in the future. Winning youth projects could include:
- Clubs offering activities from football to basketball
- Arts and drama courses
- Enterprise training
- Volunteering opportunities such as encouraging healthy living in their area or supporting charities and awareness campaigns such as Guide Dog Week.
The funding will be made available through two schemes, the Youth Investment Fund and the Step up to Serve’s #iwill campaign. Full information on the Youth Investment Fund will be available on the Big Lottery Funds website from the 20th September 2016 with the new #iwill Fund will be launched later in the autumn.
