GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund (UK) PDF Print E-mail

Food manufacturer, Mars has announced that its GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund 2015-16 has re-opened for applications.

Every week, until February 28 2016, the Fund will be looking to help local community groups, school groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by awarding five £300 cash awards a week. Organisations and groups can enter online via galaxyhotchocolate.com. Each organisation can only enter once. Four of these will be awarded by a judges' panel. There will also be a People's Choice Award every week which will be awarded to the entry with the most votes in any given week.

Projects supported in the past include:

The Ear Foundation, a projects that offers free service to hearing aid users to check their hearing aids are working effectively, provide batteries, re-tubing and cleaning their equipment. The funding from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund enabled the group to purchase items such as batteries and tubing for this service.

Little Miracles is a parent led support group and charity for families with children who have special needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions. The funding from Galaxy Hot Chocolate enabled the group to expand the range of multi-sensory toys that they have available for the children.


Grants to Promote the Teaching of Greek (UK) PDF Print E-mail

The Hellenic Society Schools Sub-Committee makes grants to schools to assist projects concerned with the teaching of Greek or Greek civilization.

Typically, grants are made for:

  • Books
  • Teaching materials, classics days or conferences
  • Greek plays by schools
  • Summer schools.

Applications from schools planning to start courses in Greek are especially welcome. Applications on behalf of individual pupils or teachers are not normally considered, but a grant may be made to an institution for use as bursaries to individuals at the discretion of that institution. Most grants are in the range £100-£500, but larger awards are occasionally made.

The next closing date for applications is the 1st May 2016.

Schools in the UK, that wish to purchase musical instruments and equipment can apply for funding of up to £2,000 through the EMI Music Sound Foundation's Instrument and/or Equipment Awards.

New £5 Million Fund to Improve Farming Productivity (England) PDF Print E-mail

Grants of £5,000 to £150,000 are available from the £5 million European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP-agri) fund. It will be used to support projects that boost productivity in the livestock, arable, horticultural and forestry sectors and create ground-breaking new technology. Projects can run for up to three years to encourage new farming techniques, as well as improve the sustainability of the farming and forestry sectors. Before submitting an application, applicants must send in a 300 word outline for their idea including the goals of the plan, the problem it will solve, and how it can be expected to benefit productivity and sustainable resource management. If the project fits the criteria the applicant will then be sent the application form.
